QPF2017 Viral Verse

Presented by Queensland Poetry Festival

QPF2017 Distant Voices presents the best of today’s viral verse. Fusing writing, technology and pop culture, a new generation is taking poetry beyond the bookstore. Join three leading lights of the online and social media poetry revolution as they read for you live beyond the screen: Button Poetry’s Co-Founder and two-time National Poetry Slam champion Sierra De Mulder (USA); award-winning NZ poet Hera Lindsay Bird whose self-titled collection of poetry became an instant bestseller when her poems Keats is Dead So Fuck Me From Behind and Monica (after Monica Geller from Friends) went viral; and acclaimed USA author Patricia Lockwood, dubbed by Rolling Stone as ‘The poet Laureate of Twitter’ based on her series of Twitter "sexts" and the Pushcart Prize-winning viral prose poem Rape Joke.
