QPF: Life on Mars: Tracy K Smith

Presented by Queensland Poetry Festival & Melbourne Writers Festival

A Queensland exclusive in-conversation with Pulitzer Prize winning poet Tracy K Smith about her body of work, including Life on Mars and her recent acclaimed memoir Ordinary Light.

Smith’s poems embody the lyrical, rhythmic quality of masters such as Federico García Lorca. At times political, whimsical, and always meditative, they speak largely to the role of art and to the conception of what it means to be American, dealing with the “evolution and decline of the culture we belong to.”

Hosted by UQP’s Poetry Editor Felicity Plunkett plus an opening reading by rising young poet Alison Whittaker.
