Presented by Supercell: Festival of Contemporary Dance Brisbane
Visit the Eventbrite page for all of your ticketing needs. If you have a ticketing question, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and Supercell will be back in touch!
SUPERCELL is a 6 day festival of contemporary dance, showcasing the art form in all its wildest variations. With a program of home grown and international artists, there is something for everyone, so come dance up a storm with us!
A first for Brisbane, the inaugural festival will be held between18-25 February 2017 with an exhilarating program of performances alongside a suite of workshops, dance classes, parties and conversations for the complete embodied cultural experience.
Co-founded and curated by Kate Usher and Glyn Roberts, SUPERCELL was born one evening amidst a nasty tropical storm. As such the namesake of the festival refers to the collision of multiple particles to create a major event with widespread beauty, ferocity, spectacle and rejuvenation - the perfect description of a festival only Brisbane and its unique balmy climate could create.
The 2017 program will present International artists Simone Truong and Creatives from Switzerland, Guangdong Dance Festival from China and the Pearl Delta Region, alongside the hot and sandy Gold Coast company The Farm, unconventional Melbourne-based duo and Keir Choreographic Award finalists Sarah Aiken and Rebecca Jensen, as well as Sydney’s Amrita Hepi and New Zealand’s Jahra Wasasala, who will be performing their first nations’ proud piece. Celebrating dance made in Queensland is the Independent Dance Exchange Program INDEX, featuring four brand new works from Brisbane artists.
Whether you are a professional dancer, a bedroom dance party queen, a disco diva or lover of dance, SUPERCELL is the ticket this summer storm season.
