The Judith Wright Centre’s unique facilities include our signature Performance Space and Shopfront, rehearsal and meeting rooms. As well as live performances, these highly flexible, licensed event venues can cater to creative meetings of minds, film shoots and screenings, workshops and seminars, through to major product launches, trade shows, arts festivals, awards nights, conferences and classes.

Conveniently located in central Brisbane, around five minutes from the CBD, the Judith Wright Centre lives and breathes creativity, both as a boutique performing arts venue and as a home to internationally-recognised arts organisations and creative industry tenants.

Venue Hire with Unique Features

The variety of venues for hire at the Judith Wright Centre is as broad as the number of uses these spaces can be adapted to. Our events team can assist you in selecting the venue that best suits your unique requirements. 

  • Performance Space – our signature 300 seat theatre, one of the most flexible venues in Brisbane with a number of configurations available.
  • Shopfront – adjacent to the Performance Space, as well as making for an ideal break-out or catering space, this 80 capacity venue is also a great choice for intimate performances, presentations, product launches and exhibitions.
  • Theatre Rehearsal Space – another highly flexible facility, seating up to 80, this venue is ideal for small-scale productions (theatre, music and dance), rehearsals and creative development showings, as well as classes and workshops. Corporate presentations, seminars and photo/film shoots are also a good fit for this space.
  • Multipurpose Room – another environment for focussing on creative business meetings boardroom style, seats up to 12 people.

Event ticketing is managed through the Judith Wright Centre box office.

The Judy is a licensed venue with our Foyer Bar offering a range of quality beverages and snacks. We allow drinks to be taken into our spaces for most events and performances, with mobile bars also available for in-space service. Post-event functions can also be arranged, with bar tab and cash bar options easily accommodated.

We offer complimentary wi-fi access for hirers to the Judith Wright Centre. Our technical team can provide dedicated password-based wi-fi options for Hirers as needed to best meet your specific event requirements.
